AUSTRALIAN DAY FOURS
RAYMOND TERRACE
Raymond Terrace was straight back into it with their first tournament of the year with the Australia Day Fours. With over $6,000 in prize money, this event attracts the cream of bowlers in Newcastle and surrounds. With such competition just two teams came through with an unblemished record. Congratulations to Blair Soars, Brad Hickey, Shane Riley and Dave Burgess (RayTer) who took the cake on 8+31. Sam Laguzza, Lennon Scott, Lee Schraner and Matt Baus (RayTer) were runner-up for the second year running on 8+21. (it’s fours years in 2nd place for Sam, Lennon and Matt by the way). A daw in the last round against Terry Antram gave Shaun Richards, Brad Parker, Tim Twining and Clint Doust the edge they needed claim third place on 7+38, whilst Will Kirby, Hayen Bent, Jarrod Bent and Sean Cairns’ draw in the second round against Mick Beesley secured them 4th place on 7+36. There were five 3 game winners in the mix for 5th and 6th place, but the teams with the best margins to take prize was Ian Lean, Clay Parker, Brendan Stokes and Jason Stokes on 6+35, followed by Corey Parker, Wayne Lambourne, Daniel Hoffman and Haydn Bojkowski on 6+28.
Best Performed each round went to Round 1: Peter Roberts, Ching Li, Keith Bell and Peter Roberts (St Johns Park), Round 2: Cody Ross, Connor Freeman, Jordan Thompson and Lachlan Freeman (composite) +12; Round 3: Lance Jackson, Ken Morley, Mick Harriss and Brett Gleeson (RayTer) +20; Round 4: Steve Newman, Daniel Jessop, Jason Aurisch and Shannon White (Forster) +16.
Thank you to all who participated and another job well done to Lennon and Matt who run a smooth scoreboard. The next tournament at Raymond Terrace isn’t until June which will be a 1 Day Men’s Pairs on the 23rd.
