Maitland City Presentation 2023 - On The Green Lawn Bowls Magazine

Members came together to celebrate 2022/2023 Champions of Club Maitland City on Friday 23rd June with an evening of wining, dining and music. President Henry Meskauskas OAM welcomed all in attendance and couldn't be prouder to be the President of such a great club with such great people.

Both the men and women bowlers of Maitland City have performed well in District / Zone events. Nathan Dawson notched up his 50th State Representative match. Nathan recently announced his retirement from State Representative play, but will no doubt continue to be a great asset to Club Maitland City. DJ Dilworth, Brodie Pitham and Nathan Dawson hold the Zone 6 Triples Title and Wayne Van Maastricht won the Zone Reserve Singles. Michelle Niznik and Kerry Seers teamed together to win the Hunter River District Women's Senior Pairs Title, whilst Sue O'Brien, Lyn Strickleton and Marion Crump won the District Senior Triples. The City's Grade 4 Pennant side won the Zone and made the trip to South Tamworth Bowling Club to contest the State Play-Offs. They won their section but unfortunately were defeated in the quarter-finals by St. Johns Park.

In the recent Champion of Champion play-offs Ladies Major Singles Champion Jessica Fisher won her section, but went down in the first round of play-offs to eventual finalist Carolyn Glen from Kurri Kurri in the knockout finals. Jessica also represented in the C of C Pairs with Caroline Hooker and again won the sectional played through to the quarter-finals! A sensation effort - well done Jessica and Caroline. George Niznik and Darren Kedwell also won their section in the C of C Men's Pairs division but went down in a close first round match in the knockout final series.

  All champions who took the opportunity to speak thanked DJ for his drive and determination to make Maitland City, the best club it can be and thanked the board for their ongoing support of bowls.
