BOB ASIMUS
MEMORIAL PAIRS
EAST MAITLAND
Wayne Smith and Craig Thompson took out the Bob Asimus Memorial Pairs at East Maitland on Monday 19th June. They played three solid games with a first-round win of 16 shots over Jeff King and Bill Walsh, followed by a 23 shot victory over Allan and Gayle Walker and finished it off with a further 10 shot triumph over Bogdan Duma and Rod Watt. Competition was rife and they were not the only undefeated team. In fact, all major prize winners returned to the club-house undefeated. Well done to second place Dave Button and David Lane (Club Maitland City) 6+33; Third place Tony O’Neill and Glen Douglas (Boolaroo) 6+24; Fourth Place: Greg Lambourne and Wayne Lambourne (Telarah) 6+23; Fifth Place: Hemi Palmer (Halekulani) and Peter Thornton (Club Maitland City) 6+21. Honourable mention to skips Greg Haigh (6+17) and Peter Ball (6+7) who also were undefeated but didn’t make the prize cut. Best Performed prizes went to Round 1: Allan Starrett and Keith Irwin (New Lambton) +15; Round 2: Ron Wilcher and Gavin Laing (Easts) +20; Round 3: Peter Jackson and Paul Gilmore +15. Congratulations to all.
Bob’s son’s Brian and Dave Asimus once again played and “made lots of friends” which used to be a favourite saying of Bob’s when things didn’t go his way on the green. Bob’s daughter Margaret Croyle presented the prizes this year and President Bill Hopkins thanked everyone for playing, Bob and Clay for a great job as usual in the organisation and Bob’s family for their support.
