HAMILTON NORTH JUNE TOURNAMENTS
Hamilton North Hornets have been buzzing with activity with not 1, not 2, but THREE events in June.       Two of these were played over the June Long weekend starting with the A&J Air 2 Bowl Triples which was a cruisy Saturday afternoon tournament with 2 games of 12 ends. Lee Schraner, fresh from the State Champion of Champions Play-offs where he won BOTH the Singles and Pairs, continued his good form to take out the top prize with team mates Adam Chaffey (Soldiers Point) and Joel Field (Charlestown). They won both their games with the highest margin of +31. Tony Ball, Troy Ball and Stuart Clarke came home strong winning their second match by 17 shots to claim second place on 4+22. They snatched second by just 1 shot over locals Mark Casey, Jamie Lee and Mark Evans who had two good games finishing on 4+21. In fourth place was Scott Ellis, Jarrod Bent and Daniel Hill on 4+18 and taking the last of the top prizes was James Welsh, Josh Reynolds and Jim Sillet. Well done to all!

On the Monday A&J Air also sponsored a 7Up Pairs event that was played over 3 games of 12 ends. Congratulations to winners John Parkinson & Wayne Smith who absolutely smashed it with 3 wins + 57. John and Wayne had two fantastic wins in the first and second round +25 and +28 respectively and finished with a +4 to secure the top prize. Second to fourth place were also undefeated but a much closer affair with margins ranging from 16 – 26. Well done to W. Medhurst & J. Petherbridge in second on 3+26; P. Thomas & M. Evans in third with 3+17 and B. Scott & D. Lang in fourth on 3+16. The last of the prize money went to B. Hoban & M. Cooper who finished in fifth with 2 wins, a draw + 19.

The third and final event was one for the ladies with an Open Fours played on Wednesday 28th June. 28 teams took to the greens for 2 rounds of 10 ends followed by lunch and raffle. It couldn’t be much closer with the two main prizes tied on 2 wins +16. Congratulations to Hamilton North’s Hann Cleary, Pam Markey, Karen Young and Jodie Dorricott who had the advantage of 13 ends to 12 ends over second place Annette Pontey, Maria Smith, Karen Mason and Val Fullick from Charlestown. A consolation prize was drawn out of the hat and that went to Cardiff’s Maureen Mitchell, Kris Brogan, Helen Lott and Diane Moore.

Well done to Hamilton North Bowls Co-Ordinator Mark Casey with all events run efficiently with the assistance of Tony Gilmour on the scoreboard. Thank you to all who played, and to all who helped behind the scenes.
